Diamonds in the Rough is a documentary by filmmaker Alex Farias that tells the story of the Pico Union Project through the eyes of our caretaker George Alvarez. She writes: “As a volunteer at The Pico Union Project, I was having inspiring, meaningful interactions that I wanted to document. As a filmmaker, I wanted to reflect the feeling I received from the community. That feeling can’t be summed up in one word but to me it’s about 5 words: joy, revival, resilience, chaos, and truth”.
